Current Service Projects

Projects include:

  • Monthly collection of nonperishable food items for local food pantry and linens (towels, sheets, etc.) to provide for families at a local homeless shelter so they have some items in hand upon leaving the shelter.

  • Collect gifts for local battered women and children’s shelter—provide gift baskets to each shelter occupant for Mother’s Day and provide a variety of small gifts for the children at the shelter to give their mothers as a Christmas gift.

  • Monetary support to Camp Jabberwocky, located on Martha’s Vineyard, which is a center for development for the handicapped; especially for individuals with cerebral palsy.

  • Through Bristol Community College, we provide the Camilla C. Pickering Scholarship Fund to assist a student with furthering their studies at the college. This fund is set up in the memory of one of our charter members who worked diligently through the years to make Altrusa’s mission successful.

  • Sponsorship of an Amerasian child from the Philippines through the Pearl S. Buck Foundation.
Major Fundraiser   Annual “300” Raffle…only 300 tickets are sold…May through September. Cash prizes. Raffle drawn at business meeting in September.
