Meredith Altrusa Club to Award Scholarships

The Meredith Altrusa Club is part of an international service organization that returns the proceeds of their fundraising efforts to the local community. The Club has been awarding scholarships since 1981.

In May 2008, the Meredith Altrusa Club will again award scholarship money for individuals who are continuing their education. Our scholarships are geared to the "non-traditional" student who is 23 years or older.

Scholarships are intended for any of the following :

  • Individuals upgrading their job skills or acquiring skills for job entry.
  • Candidates enrolled for a minimum of 3 college credits at an accredited facility.
  • Graduate students.
  • Applicants living or working in one of the following towns: Meredith, Laconia, Moultonborough, Center Harbor, Gilford, New Hampton, Sandwich and Tamworth.

The Altrusa Scholarship Committee will select candidates for interview. Funds will be granted directly to the school/course of study.

The initial scholarship may be payable for the first semester, based on financial need, at the discretion of the Committee. Subsequent awards will be based on merit, achievement, and financial need.

Deadline for applicant entries is March 28, 2008. Incomplete applications will not be considered. All material must be typed or clearly printed.

Scholarship applications may be picked up at Moultonboro Academy, Center Harbor and Meredith Public Libraries, Inter-Lakes High School, Plymouth State College, the New Hampshire Community Technical College and Southern New Hampshire University, Laconia campus.
